In the advertising business, there is no surer sign that a holding company believes it has built something important than when it decides all those somethings need a single name.

Stagwell, the network assembled by Mark Penn that has positioned itself as the technologically forward alternative to the legacy giants, announced on Monday the creation of Stagwell AI, a new umbrella brand meant to gather the company's various artificial intelligence and so-called agentic marketing products under one roof. The move is less a product launch than a rebranding exercise — a way of suggesting that the tools Stagwell has been building and acquiring over the past several years are, in fact, a coherent suite rather than a collection of initiatives that happened to end up in the same earnings report.

The roster of newly unified offerings includes what the company is calling Stagwell Machines, a family of enterprise-grade products. Among them is The Machine OS, built by the agency Code and Theory, which connects various automated agents and workflows. There is also The Targeting Machine (formerly known, rather less evocatively, as the Stagwell Agentic Targeting System), an audience intelligence platform that draws on the company's identity graph. Additional entries include The Knowledge Machine, for communications planning, and The Media Machine, an operating system from the agency Gale.

For smaller businesses — or perhaps for clients not yet ready to commit to the full machinery — Stagwell is also introducing New by Stagwell AI, a self-service platform offering tools for research, video creation, influencer marketing, and other functions that once required a phone call to an account executive.

(One notes that the word "Machine" appears with sufficient frequency to suggest either a unifying creative vision or a unifying search-engine optimization strategy.)

To announce all of this, Stagwell is spending what it describes as several million dollars on an advertising campaign, led by its agency Doner, across television, digital, and print. It is, in other words, an advertising company advertising its advertising technology — which is, if nothing else, consistent.
